Dominic Nesbitt initially trained as a broker at Lloyd’s of London with J.H. Minet & Co. before entering law school in the early 1980s.  He is admitted to practice law in both California and England & Wales.

After completing his legal studies in England, which included a two-year training contract with a City of London law firm, Dominic relocated to San Diego in 1988.  Since then, his practice has been devoted exclusively to the area of insurance coverage analysis, focusing on Commercial General Liability, Directors and Officers and Professional Liability policies.  Dominic is the past Chairman of the Insurance Section of the San Diego County Bar Association.

For many years, Dominic has exclusively represented policyholders – specializing in commercial liability claims often involving an insurer’s breach of the duty to defend.  Dominic’s policyholder clients over the years have come from both the private and public sectors, representing a broad spectrum of individuals, professions, and governmental entities.

Prior to joining Franklin Soto Leeds LLP as Of Counsel, Dominic was a partner at Osborne & Nesbitt, LLP, a firm that he jointly founded with Gary Osborne in 1996.  Prior to that, he was associated with the national law firms of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP and Adams, Duque & Hazeltine.

Dominic has been a frequent speaker on insurance issues and has authored many articles on insurance which have been published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and other journals.

Dominic holds an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell and since 2007 has been recognized annually by Super Lawyers for his insurance coverage work.
